martelvoncStorvik Novice Tourney is coming up in a week and a half and I think I will make new garb. Nice comfy garb. I need an extra outfit for Pennsic any way and I produce better with deadlines.
I dug out my book of early Anglo-Saxon clothing and decided to bite the bullet and make a tube dress with an under tunic. This of course means I will need to finish my two bone dress pins. I had one roughed out and smoothed and tonight I roughed out the other to be sanded smooth tomorrow. Since I have the next two days off I might even get one worked down far enough to be the proper sharpness. I am glad the weather has been nice so I can work outside. I cannot stand to scrape the bone in the house. It is a MESS. I work the bone by hand without any electric tools so the going is a bit slower but it is uber fun to make something like this with your own two hands.
Go Me! New accessories!
I'm also going to make a leather ring purse to wear with it but it will have a brass ring for the neck of the pouch instead of an ivory one. Since the leather totally covers the ring it will pass the 5 foot rule.
Oh wait, no, it won't.

My fabric is a linen/cotton blend woven in a very simple plaid in cream and light tan. The cotton part is not correct but I really like the fabric and for summer wear it will be comfortable enough. I'll wear my linen under-dress under it, my brown Medieval Moccasins shoes, a simple belt and the bone pins. I will also be stringing a new string of beads so that I can hang my new bone Pearl Medallion.
We are also going to try to rework one of the tube dresses that Aelfwynn owns. She really likes to shoot archery in them but I think they are too wide. If we make them elbow to elbow instead of wrist to wrist they will be less floppy and we can fit them better to hide the ladies unmentionables that sometimes peek out at the sides. Just cause you got it does NOT mean everybody else needs to see it.
Ah well off to bed as I had a late night last night. I want to get an early start.
