None of your beeswax, at least not yet....

Last night after some internet geeking I procured 68 lbs of beeswax. This means much candle dipping in my future.

Beeswax prices are kind of crazy for a variety of reasons, so I spend a lot of time on line looking for good bulk beeswax prices. I buy some here, I buy some there. It all depends on who has what at what prices.

One more thing I need to procure is another Fry Daddy to use for melting wax. No I don't put the wax IN the Fry Daddy but in a pot that rests in the water bath that the FD keeps hot. This works well for me as I can regulate the wax temperature very nicely.

So I will wile away my early winter hours dipping, dipping and more dipping. But you all already knew I was a dippy sort of person. :-)

Oh that's an excellent idea to use the fry daddy as a water bath!

Hmmm - boyfriend has a deep fat fryer that would be able to hold two vertical pots...

The FD works great. Fry baby's are too small.

Yum... nothing better than the smell and feel of warm, wet wax on a frigid cold day!

I like to dip candles, it's very relaxing doing those repetative motions.

My dad used an electric coffee pot, the percolator variety, to heat up the wax for dowels, sponges, twine, etc. for his mixed media pieces. I can't recall what we used in art class when we did batik. But a fry daddy is good because that makes it a multitasker.
