I'm startin' to get excited. We leave in less than 2 weeks. I'm now in serious garb repair mode. Many small things need to be done that get forgotten about or just plain lived with.

I'll make some new pants for the son seeing as he need thems. The big (now) stinker continues to grow. I literally can not make him anything that is height dependant until the last minute now. sigh.

My dress form has been a godsend, if for no other reason than I can hem my garb properly now. Will wonders never cease?

The living room is the picture of chaos. Bins everywhere, camping supplies all over. Will it ever come together? Thank god we don't have to pack food and cooking gear.

Well back to the sewing table or the work will never be done.

I spent today fixing, repairing, or re-triming, 7 tunics, one pair of pants and two simple circlets for my veils today. I will finish 1 undertunic tunic for the son tommorrow and put that all aside for a few days in order to work on a cloak I've been asked to make. In between I will make the son 2 or 3 pairs of drawstring pants to wear. I'd like to make a white linen underdress for me but we will see if I can squeeze that in.

We will see, there are 11 days left to sew and I don't work except on my new ebay used book business.

With my mom helping with the cloak every day I should have it done before the end of the week and then I can go back to packing and sewing. I'll get the kids to start staging more camping stuff in the living room.

I haven't made garb for myself for a while (other family members, yes, but me no) and I'd forgotten how satisfying it is to make clothes to wear for the SCA. And I do mean clothes. When I make garb I don't look at it as being "costumes". I look at it as real clothing and I want to make it sturdy and comfortable. I still have gowns I made 18 years ago. I repair them and refurbish them but I still love them.

Funny how your view of SCA activities changes the longer you've been in.
