My great pearling project marches on....

I am in the midst of repairing and improving old garb before I start anything new. I've decided I will NOT be sewing frantically before any wars. I've got 8 complete outfits right now with a few extra tunics that can be tossed in.

My first post Pennsic project has been to sew pearls along the entire edge of a 100% silk veil I have had for alot of years. This veil has always annoyed me because it does what silk does...it is shiney and pretty and flittery. None of which help it to actually stay on my head. So I am showing it just who is boss and I'm sewing tiny seed pearls about every 1/4" on the edge. My evil plan for veil domination seems to be working out. The pearls are adding just enough weight to control the edge with out being too heavy and I get the added benefit that it looks great.

The only problem is that I have to actually sew on the pearls one at a time and there are a gazillion of em'!
and yes, in my universe *gazillion* is a real number.....

*chuckle* Looks like we both have undertaken the "great veil project". I bought some beautiful silk, for veils, at Pennsic. The next stop was to pick up some pearls, to do the same thing as you are doing.

Haven't quite started, yet. Getting there. *lol* Haven't done this project before, so getting started is always the hardest process... Next will be figuring out the best way to attach the darn things..

Wheeeee.. Never a dull moment..

Tip: lightly beeswax your sewing thread. It won't stop all of the twisting but enough that you won't be cursing like a sailor.:-)

I made the veil then as I attached each pearl I ran my needle through the edge "tube" to the next spot. That way the jump doesn't show. I also knot each pearl so that if one comes off they don't ALL come off. (Pffttt done that before. "Oh it'll be fine, the thread won't bre....damn)
