That's sooooo cool!! I love the concept of living history. That's a big reason why for myself it's not just about the clothes (which are cool) but the food, and what they would have read, etc.

Now I want to go visit Virginia. :)

If you can make it down for Thanksgiving weekend, Jamestown does Foods and Feasts every year. Can't feed the demo products to visitors, since 17th C =/= health code compliant, but you can watch the cooking, see and smell the results, and ask all kinds o questions.

Looking back at 400th Anniversary weekend, I'm guessing that around half to 2/3 of the 60+ volunteers in the Fort were, or had been at one time, SCAdians.

Slightly more than half the volunteers in the fort for the 400th were Gardiner's Company. :)

The reason the Pilgrims get all the press is that after the Civil War, the North had control of the press, and it was better PR for "victorian values" to natter on about religious freedom and such instead of admitting that the first English settlers were out to make money.

Meanwhile, down in St. Augustine, the Spanish were going "pfft. Latecomers".
