Part 2: of my vigil

So as I start to remember what went on....
I was taken to the Bright Hills pavilion where the vigil room was set up. Her Highness Rowan Berran McDowell washed my hands while Jeanmaire held the bowl. I cannot for the life of me remember what she said to me but it was something about symbolizing my old life being washed away and my new life beginning?
Then they took me into the vigil room and helped me change into my vigil gown. This was a day I am very glad I am a "plain whitey" sort of girl.
Dame Olwen the Odd made the vigil gown for me and I will wear it with wonderful memories of the day. But to show how utterly clueless a person I am.....back in May, Olwen volunteered to make me garb. I said great! and proceeded to supply her with not only the under dress she patterned my vigil gown on but I even gave her the white fabric for it and NEVER suspected a thing! Hey, I gave her about 4 pieces of fabric and said she could make anything for me that struck her fancy. As Baroness I was just grateful for the garb help. Doh! Little did I know that her fancy would be my vigil tunic.
Inside they had set up 3 chairs and a table with my latest project, the opus anglicanum lion that they had run down to the A&S tent to snag. Funny thing is Jeanmaire had asked earlier in the week if I was going to bring anything for display at Novice. You guessed it....still clueless. I didn't think twice because I like to display my projects because it's fun!
The medallion that I was to receive was on the table. Her Excellency Baroness Cordelia has arranged for a beautiful bouquet of roses and lilies for my vigil room. Dame Olwen brought her battery operated fan and it was a life saver!
The rest of the afternoon was spent visiting with good friends both old and new. Re-living memories, receiving good solid advice on my new role as a peer of the realm and much laughing. I like to laugh with friends and this is one memory I will carry close to my heart! Duke Badouin MacKenzie of Balfour,
ladygriele's husband, even gave me his "Spiderman Speech" on being a peer!
So I was allowed out occasionally by the guards to go where even the Czars walk alone. This was not so much of an issue except my guards took the job of keeping me from harm...er, bolting, seriously, so seriously that I could not get OUT of the porta castle once I was in so closely did they stand at the door! LOL! It is very odd going to do one's business with a large entourage of 6+ people. But I know it is because they were happy for me and I was glad of their company where ever it was.
This being the 2nd part and I am teary eyed yet again and will tell more later.
