If you are of the prayin' sort...

Keep your fingers crossed, say a prayer, or sound a mantra but I am finally getting around to starting the small knitted medieval design purse kit that I bought from [livejournal.com profile] caemfind at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival last May. The colors are a dark green and an off white. I have of course lost the front card that had a photo of a finished purse for reference. It's somewhere in my paperwork. blech. I've never done two color knitting before.

I have to keep reminding myself...don't pull the traveling strands too tight! So far so good. The tube is appearing and it is not a mobius! Go me! I won't be carrying this project around as I have to concentrate so hard on the chart and the two strands of string I can't really take it as a casual project. I'm up to row 5 now in 1 1/2 hours of work.

I'm determined to do this. I want the little purse and so I shall have it! By Gum!

I'll post pictures when I get a few more rows done and there is something to see.

Update* this morning I was able to knit one row of 72 stitches in only 20 minutes!

I wasn't thinking of the structure of the class so much as the content and the nature of knitting being the kind of thing that works a lot better one on one for technique stuff. It's pretty easy to explain how to do two color knitting but people will have to have the experience of doing it to really get it. I've taught knitting classes on and off for about 30 years and over 4-6 people in a group makes it really difficult. I'm thinking maybe we need to do knit nights at my house or something like that which will make it a longer term project and much more likely to be of use to everyone who's interested.

I agree, knitting is a hard thing to teach in groups. I've been watching one recently thinking the same thing, that tutorials really work best.
