It's official. I am diseased.

I have the antibiotic, inhaler, cough medicine, and three boxes of Puffs Plus with lotion to prove it.

There was much panic on my part this morning when I called my doctor of 20 years to ask to be seen only to be told that my doctor no longer accepts MDIPA insurance. This was quite a shock to us. I finally got to see my doctor by agreeing to pay cash for the appointment. I had to see SOMEBODY as I was supposed to go to work tomorrow. If I was diseased I needed a doctors note stating so and that it would be better if I kept my disease to myself, thank-you-very-much.

I also spent much time this morning hunting for a new primary care physician near us and getting the paperwork we need to become their patients. This means I turn the paper work in and then make appointments for all us for our "new patient" appointments.

While visiting my old doctor I took the records transfer authorizations to get that ball rolling.

The physicians assistant was concerned that I did not have Health Insurance. I said but I DO have insurance, you just don't accept it any more. Then she asks can you pay for your prescriptions? I said YES I have prescription coverage, it's just that you don't accept it anymore. *head desk*

and they wondered why my blood pressure was high when I went in......

Oh well, I'm back home, in my jammies, and I am happy again.

*head desk* with you on the insurance thing. The previous medical practice I went to (in the days before 1999) was wildly inconsistent in terms of what they would cover under what insurance. They'd tell me that I didn't owe anything for that visit and then a month later I'd get a bill from a collection agency. *grrr* In the aforementioned year I found a doctor I liked as much who was a lot closer to my then-new residence AND had a much better front office.

When you feel better, you should write to the old medical practice explaining exactly WHY you are switching.

And, needless to say, I hope you feel MUCH better soon!

They already know why we are leaving. It's cause they won't take our insurance anymore. The ladies at the new office seemed very nice. I just hope the doctors are too.

Thanks! I want to get well. I don't like being sick and the Knight is tired of hearing me snore! LOL!

Before we went to New Zealand I requested a CD with a PDF copy of my med records. They only just got a round tuit earlier this month, but I now have MY stuff in MY hands. I think this is a great way to go.

Hey, I wonder if my doctor does that...
Thanks!

Ugh. You have my sincere sympathies - the process of getting a new doctor kills me. I am eminently unpractical, and always forget something important.

Thanks! I hope so too!

I may be getting a visit from Al Gore over the number of trees I'm killing in Kleenex alone.
