No really, I can't actually see you. Wave if you're there.

My glasses failed last night and now I have only an old pair of prescription sunglasses to let me drive. At work I have my computer monitor about 8" from my face. Tomorrow I see (haha!) the optometrist to get a new pair of glasses.

They ask me at work how I'm doing and I tell them as long as they don't move the furniture I'll be good. I can recognize the big shapes....It sucks to be nearsighted and need bifocals.

So until my new glasses arrive, probably next week, I can't do much. Bummer and I was on a cleaning roll too.

I'm stumbling around with you... Had a flare and my prescription is wrong until my eyes settle down again. Even old prescriptions won't work any better, because my eyes get worse in odd directions.

I agree, old prescription aren't helpful because they are so off.

Been there, done the time and it SUCKS!!!! Ask the Optometrist to put a rush on the new specs. Bifocals have really been improved - they aren't hard to deal with at all anymore. Tell them you want the progressive bifocals. No line, no blur, they can even adjust the placement to accommodate how you sit and read at your esk and with stitching projects. At least MY optometrist did that for me! Good luck!

I've had bifocals for about 5 years now. I like the lined ones.

Other than having to wear them in the first place, (they can be damned inconvienient) I'm not bothered cosmetically by them. Being always afraid what do I do if they break and I can't see to drive is my bigger concern.

The eyes have it...

I find the line distracting. My Optometrist was able to get the lenses ground in such a fashion as to accommodate how and where I sit when I'm at the computer and when I just sit and read. I tend to NOT look down as far as some folks do. Otherwise I'm just as happy to have my "face furniture" and only have to worry about occasionally cleaning the lenses. As for worrying about "what ifs" - I try to keep my most recent "old" prescription pair handy - just in case. That's pretty much all you can do unless you want to pay for a backup set to leave in the car for driving.

Cosmetic aspects don't generally affect me much. I've been wearing glasses since I was 4 years old off and on (mostly on) and as long as the glasses are comfy, don't look totally weird on me and allow me to see properly - I'm good! But that's just me and lots of folks have different ideas and opinions. So I'd say enjoy your new "eyes"!
