I'm Fine, Fifty, and Full of Firsts!

This is my 50th year and I am just full of first time outings.

* I earned my first Fighter Authorization Card. (Seige)
* I learned a new string art. (kumihimo)
* I am wearing contacts for the first time.

Now I will be entering my first SCA cooking competition.

It is sponsored by the Bright Hills Cooks Guild - "Trial by Fire"
Period recipes prepared under Pennsic conditions.
Documentaion is required.
This Sunday, September 6. at Master Chirhart and Mistress Bec's home in Hampstead, MD.
Cooking begins at noon and has to be plated and out no later than 4:00pm.
Judging is at 4:00 and we eat after the judging is done.

I'll be entering a meat dish and a dessert.

I've been working on my docs all this evening. Saturday I will go final shopping and pack the truck. I'm getting nervous about, well, everything.

Cooking as a spectator sport! Come on out!

By the way - as far as Siege goes - we've been invited to participate in a pumpkin chunkin' contest up here in Highland Foorde. They're using catapults and such. Dunno if you've got anything that would work but the group is going to discuss having a demo at the thing...

I have a friend whose Demoiselle (whom I know at a distance) just moved to your fine Barony! She's been in the SCA since conception, but doesn't know anyone in Bright Hills. Her name is Cecily, and she's a pretty neat person from what I know of her. Is there someone specific I should point her to, or is there another way she can tap into your local network?

I don't expect to win or place but heck I'm gonna try! There will be folks there with lots more Pennsic medieval cooking experience than me. I'll be happy if I can get my entries done by the deadline.
