Friends, knitting and all that.
Apr. 24th, 2005 07:39 pmToday was another day of fun, friends and string. TAG was the first annual(?) Knit In. Instead of all of our usual projects involving string in it's various types we all had to bring a knitting project SCA or Non-SCA related. It didn't matter. We even encouraged those who did not know how to knit to come and learn to knit.
As usual we had a nice turnout and we ate snacks, some healthy, some not. :-) We laughed and talked and a right girly time. Okay so Charlie had a right manly time as he always does. But then I think he may be the smartest man in the Barony. He shows up to an activity with MANY women who think he's wonderful for knowing how to do what we do.
Listen and learn men of the group, you could learn a thing or two from ol' Charlie. Knitting and Needlework might not look so bad after all.....
I came home relaxed and I actually got quite a bit of knitting done on both a water bottle cover and my knitting sampler. I was able to totally forget my cares for a few hours and what with my anxiety attacks lately these were very precious hours indeed.
I am thankful for my friends for they encouraged me to try knitting again after many years of frustration. I was never able to "pick it up" but all the gentle help and encouragement I have gotten have helped tremendously! I can knit! I'm not the best knitter but I can start to read a pattern and make useful things.
This makes me very happy.
So magic happens when you sit down with friends to work on a hobby. It really does.
