After much nagging and a bit of luck, Aelfwynn found a replacement screw on ring and washer set for our blender in Wally World.

She is now a frozen Smoothie queen! They are quite good and very easy to make.

1 1/4 cups of low fat or skim milk (skim would be better)
1 1/4 cups of non fat plain yogurt (no added sugar here)
8 oz of a FROZEN fruit of your choice (no added sugar here)
Splenda to taste
A couple of ice cubes, (can be omitted)
cold water to dribble in to loosen the mix up if it's too thick.

Start with pulsing untill the fruit and the ice cubes break down then blend on, well, blend.
Dribble in the water if it looks like it's not moving. If it still isn't moving, turn off the blender and stir it a bit by hand to loosen it up.

If you don't want frozen just plan ahead and defrost the fruit in the fridge and omit the ice cubes.

This will make two, 14oz servings of DELICIOUS home made smoothie! I am sold. We have made peach and strawberry so far. I want to get bananas next!

I figure the calorie count for two glasses is 375 if made with 1% milk,
so divide by two and each glass of smoothie is only 188 calories! WOO HOO! I'm in!

Because there are no carbs except for the fruit, we can have this on our South Beach diet. We've been following the SBD food guidelines for the past year. The Knight much more religiously than the rest of us. But that said we are eating a MUCH more healthy quality diet. I need to buckle down, be more strict and I could lose more than the 20 lbs I've lost so far. This is working for us because the food is not weird in weird combinations. No calorie counting or weighing of portions. Now this does NOT mean we can eat until we burst but we have found that with a diet of less processed, less refined, food that is better for us we are full faster and eat less.

Ah, Life is good!
