It's gettin' close.
Jul. 9th, 2005 09:26 amWell Pennsic is only 34 days away for us. I've sorted out the garb we have to get it ready for repairs. I need to make a few things but not a horrific boat load. I also plan on making this garb out of the stash I already own to get some of it used up. Especialley the garb needed for the son who is still growing like a weed. I can't justify buying new fabric just for him when he probably won't be able to wear whatever I make in less than a year. It would go right into the gold key stash. He is also relegated to T-Tunic land. I refuse to make him a fancy fitted piece of garb, spend many many hours on it to have him wear it exactly twice. I did that for the Knight when I made him a fitted early Landsknecht when he weighed 285 lbs. He wore it once, lost 50 lbs, couldn't wear it.THEN he puts the weight back on, wore it twice more, then lost 90lbs, this time for good, so I ended selling the darn thing on Ebay.
I love to make garb but I'd like it to stick around on him a while. Sigh, teen-agers.
I do want to make a few more viking dresses as they are comfy and versatile. I can mix and match gowns and aprons and hats. Besides, I love the beads and broaches that I get to wear! These are a few of the things on my list to shop for at Pennsic. That, and silk embroidery floss, fabric to embroider on, plus, needlework & art books. Maybe a pair of shoes, we'll see.
