The yearly christmas projects are chugging along. I'm currently working on two scarves for presents.
But on an even better note, so far I have all my presents wrapped and under the tree. Now this is NOT to say I am finished with presents, it only means I've been a good elf and kept up with the wrapping. If there is one thing I have learned from my mom is DO NOT STAY UP ALL NIGHT CHRISTMAS EVE TO WRAP PRESENTS AT THE LAST MINUTE! okay, this one was from seeing her do it and swearing I would never do it, but a lesson learned is a lesson learned.
Each year I've been making more and more gifts instead of purchasing gifts. I have fun doing it and I have fun searching for cool stuff to make or cool yarn to knit stuff out of. Christmas and Hannukah is a bad time of year for crafters. SO many ideas and not NEARLY enough time to make it all in.
*BREAK HERE*
Whoa, I just had a seriously wierd cooking moment......
Here in Maryland it is a nasty, wet, snowy day. SO I get the absolutly brilliant idea to make a pot of 15 bean soup with cut up rings of Hillshire Farms smokey beef sausage in it.
And yes, you may come to dinner at my house tonight if you like. I'll leave the light on for you....
Anyway, I was cookin' the beans in my pot and I went to check on them and they were BLACK, okay now, NOT BURNED but COLORED black. Huh???!?!?!!?? So I figure, oh well, this bag of beans must have had a lot of black beans in it. Too bad, but it will taste good even if it looks odd. I come back a while later to still black beans and procede to add the onion, garlic and can of tomatos. I stir it up put the lid back on and walk away to leave it to it's simmery-ness.
I come back again to check and lo and behold, the black color is gone and my bean soup is multi-colored again. I am SERIOUSLY confused! I don't think I had a mini-power outage of my retinas so I'm not sure what happened. Maybe God is playing tricks again and I'm the one he and his heavenly cohorts picked today....
Well, back to our regularly scheduled christmas crafts program......
