12th night re-cap
Jan. 14th, 2007 06:19 pmIt was a very fun event even though it was very far away. Thank goodness for friends who let us sleep at their house.
Another successful Tempore Atlantia with some very unusual not seen before items-
A reproduction Anglo-Saxon bucket and assorted grave goods,
A display about Roman Kiln Bricks, Etain even brought one of her unfired homemade bricks!
HRH Valharic and his Documentation of the feast he served at The Coronation of THR Ragnarr and Anneke in September. I wish more cooks would do this, cooks don't get nearly enough recognition and part of it lies in the fact that they don't often write up their feasts into papers and share them with us at A&S displays. *hint, hint, hint*
A reproduction of The Lokistone.
You heard me right, a full sized, hand carved, red sandstone, copy of the Loki Stone.
The Youth A&S display showed that a new gaggle of cooks is in the pipeline, never you fear.
Judges just popped out of the woodwork for me. I am very grateful to them. More than one artisan told me on Saturday they don't enter TA for the prize or for the win, but for the FEEDBACK they get on the judging sheets. Thank you again to those who gave of their time to support the artisans in their efforts.
and on and on. Believe you me, I have one of the coolest volunteer positions in the SCA.
Her Majesty gave everyone real "coin of the realm" during the feast. They were little pewter hand minted coins for the occasion. I snagged a couple of extras as they came in different designs.
Her Grace, Duchess Kyneburh, was selling her pilgrim badges for the new Atlantia Royal Crowns fund raiser. This one was a very nice little alms purse. I missed getting one of the COLORED (kewl!) Bouquet of Roses badges she sold after the alms purses ran out.
The feast was fantastic! It had a German theme and everything was really good. The Knight was particularly filled with much cheerieness when the tray of veal bratworste on a bed of nicely done saurkraut came to the table. I loved the first dish of the cucumbers, red cabbage, chicken and hard boiled eggs. I could have made a complete dinner of that dish alone.
Storvic has new "Nextcellancies" Congrats to Rorick and Janina!
We still have not heard anything here in Bright Hills. I hope we hear soon. The hardest part is the not knowing.
I am bushed and we still have to take Aelfwynn back to college tommorrow for the semester starts on Tuesday. I think I will collapse now as my butt is flat from sitting in the minivan for so long.
