There must always be a first.
Feb. 18th, 2007 10:10 amYesterday, the investiture event at Dun Carraig was my first as Baroness of Bright Hills. It felt odd not "working" at the event. It felt strange being given deference and being addressed as "Your Excellency". I'm sure this will feel more natural as time goes on and as I learn more grace in my new position. The great thing is I have no paperwork to do and no reports to file. Sweet! I actually got to talk to people and see things and relax.
The feast was good and the day board was tasty too. I left the event satisfied and not stuffed.
I was envious of all the dancers after feast because I am not a very good dancer. My dancing talents are sort of relegated to horses brawls and circle dances. I watched from the sidelines with great gusto though! Baroness Molly pulled me in and gave me her fast and dirty belly dance lesson! Maybe I should try to take some beginner ME dance classes at Pennsic.
I had an opportunity to speak to one of our barony members about her beaded jewelry work. She is doing very nice pieces but she has not written documentation in her own words. I advised her to devise a better way to display her work. We talked about some possibilities. She jumbles them on a table with a folder of copies and people can't see just how technically good her items are and they are very nice. This lady has great potential if we can get her display and documentation tightened up a bit.
Ah well I must write my Baroness note for this months Yeoman and then I must go to D.C. to collect the daughter and her college room mate from Katsucon.
