I've decided I need a little more right brain time in my life and have decided to go back to doing some illumination once in a while. (calligraphy is a maybe, only if I feel like stabbing myself in the eye with a sharp pen but we'll see). I can't be a combat scribe it's just not something I can do on the spur of the moment with any reliability at this point. I need time to think, and research, and then work. Like all good students I am copying my masters work before I do my own. Here is my first effort in a very long time, it is for an AoA scroll from the Atlantian backlog.

This is about 4 hours work so far. I'm trying to keep a log on the hours I put in. I have no idea what use the information will be but there you are. Maybe just for grins.

This is from a Biblia Pauperum (paupers bible) but, due to the quality of the illuminations, really was nothing of the sort.

When I finally get up the nerve the calligraphy will be like the original with every three lines inked in alternating colors of red, blue, and gold.I need to rework the upper right blue block as I'm not happy at all with the white work.

I used Windsor & Newton Designer Guache', Primary Blue, Primary Red, and Utrechts Metallic gold paint. The gold did not scan as shiny as it really is. Using gold leaf is not on the learning curve just yet as I get back in the swing of things. I will use it later but not now.
