I be all wibbly wobbly!
Sep. 8th, 2008 09:06 pmToday I started my new exercise regime and I am the proud owner of wibbly wobbly legs.
I work at Carroll Lutheran Village, a retirement, well, village. They have a workout room with 3 tread mills, 2 recumbent step machines, 2 exercise cycles and a 10 stop strength machine set. Along with a stretch stop, exercise balls and some free weights. There is even a pool for exercise classes.
My doctor, who is on the fence about me and high blood pressure, wants me to exercise 30 min. 3x per week at a minimum and lose another 50 lbs. I've lost the first 12 but it's been very slow as I've not been as good about my diet as I could be.
Being an employee I can use the facilities if I pay the princely sum of $12.50 per month, deducted automatically from my pay. I'm gonna because I will be more likely to use the facilities because they are right there at work. The director of the "Wellness Center" also comes up with cool and interesting classes to offer. Anything she can do to get us off our duffs she will try to offer.
I'm am pleased to note I surprised her by being a lot stronger that she thought I might be. She's like "Do you do heavy lifting?" Umm, does schlepping my SCA stuff, packing and unpacking my truck, setting up and taking down pavilions, etc. etc. almost every weekend count? She says yep, it does...lol!
I was also pleased I could do a steady 3.9 MPH on the treadmill and not break a sweat.
I do have a minor goal. I'm 223lbs right now. If I can get down to about 205 I can wear my middle class Elizabethan again. It needs new underpinnings but I still have the over dress and sleeves. I made it 20 years ago and while it needs work it still looks like new because I've only worn it a couple of times.
We will see. I'd love to get back down to 188 which is what I weighed on my wedding day in 1984. Not thin mind you but well under the Obese BMI rating I am now.
