Nalbinding - It's what's for breakfast.

Yesterday I finished a pouch made with the new stitch Mistress Sigrid taught me Friday evening. It makes an entirely different fabric than the first one she taught me which I believe was the Oslo stitch.

This stitch worked up incredibly faster that the socks are going because the stitches are larger. It also makes a thicker fabric. The drawstring is made with a simple 4 bow finger loop braid. The wool is Lambs Pride Worsted.

Here are some photos of the pouch and where I am with the socks -

Socks! Wearable now but I want to add the cuff.

Wow! Nice!

I should learn how to nalbind. The technique is mentioned in that Latvian clothing article I mentioned a few entries back in my own journal. (And Latvia is so close to Lithuania....)

Thanks! It's great fun and worked up fast. There was a high "instant gratification" quotient with this project!

Yay for nålbinding! Looks great!

Do you have any hints on references used state-side/SCA for definitions of the particular stitches? My references are pretty much all Norwegian/Swedish and I'd like to find terms/pictures to help me converse with SCA friends on the subject... preferably with out having to go into full-description mode! ;D

This is my weak area.

I know what I know because I was shown how to do the stitch, but I'm not able to read the stitch patterns. AlI I think I know is U=under, O=over and that's it.

Thanks! I am pleased if I may say so! :-) I love the feeling of learning new things.
