Yes, fine friends it is raining here in spongy Baltimore County, MD. Puddles are all over the yard because the ground is so saturated it can't soak up any more. Well at least it ain't snow.
I received my first package of the new DMC linen embroidery floss. It ended up being a gift from a very generous lady. Her only "catch" is I have to help her occasionally with various textile advice. Now I would have done this anyway without the gift just because she is a nice person. So I think I will surprise her with a little gift made with the floss she gave me. Shhhhh, it's surprise!
The beading of the napkins moves along at a steady pace. I'm going to make one for myself when I'm done. I think I will also make a few extras as tokens for our Baroness to give out. I've got the beading system down now. :-)
My other project is a lion sampler. It is one of those pieces you make for needlework designers. I don't want to get too attached since I won't get to keep it. The designer doesn't want to promise you can have the item after she's done with it since it goes on the road and could sadly "disappear" while at a trunk show or get damaged. So I will receive a stipend for my work and be able to see my "babies" on the patterns. It's sort of like kids. You raise them as best you can and then you have to let them leave the nest to go out on their own. You can't always guarantee they will come home again.
Give me a moment as I sink into dramatic meloncoly...
Okay I'm back!
The birds are making a huge racket in front of the house. We have a large ungainly holly bush where they congregate in bad weather. Only problem, it's a bird convention out there, loud enough to hear inside the house. They will miss that bush when I cut it down in the next few weeks. It's grown too large for the front of the house. I'm going to feel like a bad Hitchcock movie as I get glared at by the hordes....
