I'm making a small giftie with the new DMC linen thread. I am favorably impressed. It's working pretty smoothly on the linen ground I'm using. It seems a bit stiff and it does look a bit hairy when you pull it out of the skein but once you start to work with it loses the aformentioned hairness and stiffness and handles quite nicely. I'm making a pin cushion in chain stitch with a BW pattern in Mary Gostlow's Blackwork book on page 67. I'm using a few colors for this instead of the originals silver gilt but it looks good and I think it will be well received. I'll post a picture tomorrow when I finish it.

I rearrainged the dining room today so that I can put my chair next to the only window in the house that gets decent light most of the day. It's the ONLY east facing window. It seems when they built these houses in the late 60's, our side of the street got chinsed in the house layout plans. The folks on the OTHER side of the street have the windows facing due west and so get great light in the most windows. Sigh.

So I now can see what I am doing as I sit and embroider and hand sew. I still need magnifying lenses but at least I have light now! woo hoo!
