TNT in Bright Hills, What a day!
Oct. 30th, 2005 11:44 amWhew, am I one tired puppy!
We had an excellent turn out for Treachery on the Taikado yesterday. I'd like to know how many people we ended up having in attendance. I came home earlier than expected after clean-up, fell into bed, woke up once because I forgot to take Ibuprofen BEFORE I went to bed, slept until 8:30, lazed in bed watching tail ends of movies and dragged my sorry Bee-hind out at 11:00am.
The Arts & Sciences display was impressive to say the least. Everyone knows how I feel about the A&S but I am constantly amazed at the level of talent that there is for things medieval in the SCA. There were four, 8 foot banquet tables full, and I do mean full, of displays and competition items with two large textile items on stand on the floor. We had participation in 8 of the 11 competitions on offer.
No matter what anyone may say, I have THE BEST volunteer position in the Society. I get to encourage the scholars and artisans of the SCA. Beginners and experts, long time and short time members, woodworkers and textile artists, writers and performers, they are all amazing!
I felt the event went smoothly and the feast was so good! I came away stuffed and satisfied. The Bright Hills Cooks Guild had removes for both Japanese and European pallets. There was sushi grade tuna, daikon radishes, marinated mushrooms to DIE for! Our table loved the Japanese menu so much we went back for seconds and because we had High friends in low places ;-) we were slipped extra tuna and mushrooms not once but TWICE! I liked this menu beacause the food was very good and was not covered in sauces and gravy. Now I like these things but this whole menu fit together really well. Everything was presented very nicely and on time I was grateful for this because by the end of the day I was ready to gnaw my own arm off I was so hungry.
For lunch we were served a delicious Portugeus lemon and chicken soup, cheese, bread sticks, wasabi peas (yum!) and hard boiled eggs. Man but we eat good in Bright Hills!
I only regret I did not get to relax and spend time at the merchant area. Maybe at Holiday Faire.
I've got the minivan cleaned out. Now I have to sort it all out, pack it all up again and write my reports.
Wow!
