We dodged the doggie bullet!

I have been to vet today and the financial gods looked kindly on me and my wallet. The whole trip only cost me $61.22.
All day on Halloween Cassie started to act very odd. She kept her tail between her legs, did not want to "sit" and kept coming to me with a "Mom, make it better" face on. If you have met my dog you would realise this is strange behavior even for our omega member of the pack. Then all day yesterday she got worse and looked absolutly miserable and unhappy. So I called the vet because by this time I realised there was something going on with Cassie's tail. It was a tad swollen in the middle and hanging limp. They could not fit me in so after I described the symptoms, they said to give her one buffered asprin twice a day and come in the morning.
Poor Cassie was so uncomfortable she slept on the sofa all night instead of in bed with us. This is the first time since she was big enough to jump up and sneak in with us that Cassie has not slept in our bed. Poor doggie!
We went to the vet and after much consultation and manipulation of the offended appendage the vet pronounced that no, Cassie's tail was not broken, or dislocated, just badly whomped. We have been sent home with cortisone pills for the next week to ease the swelling and discomfort. Already Cassie is feeling better and her tail is not so limp. Not back to it's old self but not so disturbingly limp. We shall see.
So my bill today included seeing the vet, the cortisone pills, and a 6 month supply of heartworm pills.
Yea! Cassie's is not seriously hurt and neither is my bank account!
I love my dog very much and I was afraid of what they might say was wrong, whew!
