Good things DO happen!

After lamenting that I had no idea how the Son and I were going to be able to clear a parking spot for the Knight when he can home today, a miracle happened overnight! YES, a real bonefied miracle!
The snow and ice had reached record thickness and hardness in our neighborhood. We only just cleared enough of a path for the minivan to squeeze into the drive. I woke up this morning to find that sometime during the night a HUGE truck of some sort (telling by the tread marks in the snow) had come and cleared the ice to the CURB from my side of the street. It did not just pass and scrape down the street but it had actually pushed the ice up on to the grassy area by our sidewalk!
And the really amazing part...our driveways all the way down the street WERE NOT PLOWED IN! This driver had scraped perpendicular to the curb anywhere there was not a car. I almost cried with relief. I'm not a wussy person but the chipping of the ice was just too much for even me.
I'm going to call the county and lodge a Compliment!

Date: 2007-02-17 12:43 am (UTC)We should be so lucky... Not only are we still mostly barricaded in by the walls of slush the plows threw up when they finally came, today some jerk came and parked in our on-street cleared space — the one that I was expecting would be free for our guest to use tonight. >-|

Hmmmm, You're right about the jerk part. I'd leave a note on his windshield. Yea technically you aren't allowed to "save" a spot on a public street but he knew he was being a lazy so and so and that the clear spot was NOT in front of his own house. It makes you want to go and shake his mother.
