1. You do a lot of things well. What is one thing that you just can't seem to get the hang of?

3 dimensional carving.
Try as I might, even using drawings and patterns, I end up with items that are skewed and misshapen. I've read books, taken lessons, and still I make drunken shaped images. Oy human heads and features are my worst. Maybe it's because I've got a severe astigmatism. Maybe I just naturally suck at it! LOL! I'm leaning toward total lack of ability.

Next question should be...Why the heck did you take up bone carving then? I can make the general shapes pretty well. It's my detail work that lacks finesse.

2. If you could go back and spend a month in a single time and place covered by the SCA, which would you choose and why?

I'd say the 12th or 13th centuries, at any time in England, so that I could try to get into an embroidery studio for that month. I'd know I could be taught a thing or two.

3. Which do you think is going to be harder, being landed, or being a peer?

Hmmm, Both are tough in their own ways.
I cannot say what I really want to in the way I'd like because my words are not entirely my own. I must weigh what I say for the greater good. What I feel may not be what is best for those I serve. In both cases I am obligated to serve others, give council when asked, and be mindful that my words are given more weight as Baroness and Laurel. I also like to remember what my Mom told me, "You can catch more flys with honey than with vinegar."

4. If you could change one thing about the SCA, what would it be?

It would be for us to have more love of trying to be as medieval as we can be. It seems that we do not encourage our artisans and scholars nearly enough to help us learn what we can. While true there are circumstance beyond control. But encouragement and not a heavy hand will win the day.

5. Suppose you got to run any kind of event you wanted and it would be an unbridled success whatever you did, what kind of event would you put together?

I would love to see a Heraldic Tourney. Where the purpose of the event is to have everyone bring personal banners, wear fighting surcoats, decorate what they owned with their own heraldry. The A&S competitions and display would feature uses of heraldry. The feast servers would be dressed in tabards of the hosting groups. I imagine silk pennants fluttering in the breeze from every pavilion. One of the main activities would be a heralds table not only for the usual device and name consults but to help people design uses of their own heraldry. Classes in how to use your heraldry.

I have a dream.....
