Hooyah! Mom was able to get the gold braid and 20 yards at that! I have a GOOD mom! I finished sewing together the outside and the lining & got all the seams trimed and pressed last night. The next three days will be the decorating and Friday will be the hemming and the cording on the hem.

All in all a good project so far & I hope the person I'm making it for will like it. They chose a good color and I wouldn't mind having some of this myself for a tunic or some such thing.

Well, the Mom will be here any time so I'd better get dressed and ready to go. She is a task master which is why I hired her for the job! That and she works cheap (read here: free).

The cloak is coming along swimingly! Especially since after much putting on and taking off I finally figured out how to apply the soutache braid so that it looks right. You do know there are no instructions on HOW to attach it but PLENTY on WHERE you can attach it.

There is also supposed to be a special braid foot for the sewing machine. NOW they tell me....no matter, I am getting the braid attached neatly without the fancy gee gaw.

I gave mom the day off tommorrow since attaching the braid is a one woman job. She will be back in the sweatshop on Thursday to help me with the hemming.

Enough of the break, back to the sewing machine.

Whew, the braid work on the cloak is done. It looks pretty good. Not too gaudy. It's just a pick me up for the design. I'm pleased with the outcome so far.

Tommorrow is dedicated to sewing in the lining and finishing the front edges and the neckline. I will be done in plenty of time to get some additional sewing for us done. Yea!

I'd better go to bed now my eyeballs are screaming at me.
